Sharon L. (Cookie) Basile, 69, of Virginia Beach Va., formally of Ford City, Pa. passed away on Friday December 9th 2022.
She was born September 6th 1953 in Kittanning Pa the daughter of Jack Cook and Rose (Heymers) Cook.
Sharon was a 1971 graduate of Ford City High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy receiving an Honorable Discharge for her service. Sharon worked as a civilian for the U.S. Navy as a Human Resources Assistant Manager for the Injured and Limited Duty Naval Personnel Department for 45 years. She was very passionate about her job and a true advocate of those who served their country. Her commitment to her job and the service members she represented was recognized by receiving one of the highest awards that a civil service employee can receive from the Department of the Navy, the (Civilian Service Commendation Medal). She was truly loved by those who worked for her and with her and will be greatly missed by all.
Sharon was a fun loving and easy-going person that truly enjoyed being with her family and friends.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter Chantel, her sister Kim Bussey (Cook), brother-in-law Ed Bussey and her nephews, D’Andre and Jordan Bussey. Also, her brother Mitch Cook and his wife Terry (Pascarella) Cook, her niece Alyssa Cook and nephew Michael Cook.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, her brother James Cook and sister Pamala Skursky (Cook).
A private memorial of close friends and family was held at the Naval Chapel at Norfolk Naval Station Norfolk Virginia on December 16 at 1:00 PM.
